Okay, why Tarot? Well, when I was a young woman recovering from severe trauma, I found a Tarot deck in an old, dusty bookstore. The images seemed exotic and mysterious. They seemed to speak to me of life and journeys that we all take. And so, my decades-long fascination with Tarot began.
Okay, why Tarot-Chi™? Well, about 10 years ago, I was in a serious car wreck and nearly lost my leg. It was another trauma from which I had to recover, both physically and psychologically. My husband, David Duncan, who passed away not long after that car wreck, was a Wushu practitioner and recommended that I try Tai Chi. (Which I still love, and one of my best friends is a Tai Chi Master.)
But during Tai Chi classes, I kept "feeling" the images and ideology of the Tarot. Tai Chi and other similar martial arts are based on Eastern mysticism. As a daughter of the West, I just felt more pulled to the mysticism of the West. Tarot IS the quintessential mystic system of the Western world. And that's why I began developing an exercise system based on the Tarot - it connected more with my spiritual and mystical side.
My deceased husband, David Duncan, inspired me to begin the creation of Tarot-Chi™. My current husband, Mark Warner, helped bring that creation fully into life. I am truly grateful for both of them, for David who inspired the creation of Tarot-Chi™, and Mark who helped bring this system to fruition. (Mark is on the cover of the book and inside the book performing the poses. He also designed the beautiful cover.)
